The Certified Quality Engineer is a professional who understands the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. This body of knowledge and applied technologies include, but are not limited to, development and operation of quality control systems, application and analysis of testing and inspection procedures, the ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices, an understanding of human factors and motivation, familiarity with quality cost concepts and techniques, and the knowledge and ability to develop and administer management information systems and to audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

 

Taught by an company experienced and related certified instructor, this theory based course includes topic review as well as offers practice on answering sample examination questions.

 
   
 

Registration is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. This course is recommended for persons with related experience.

 
 

A quality engineer works to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of a product by introducing assurance programs and providing standards. These professionals are employed by companies that produce all types of goods and services. Quality engineers are often concerned with keeping costs low by decreasing failure rates. They may work with departments ranging from product development to customer service.

 

According to the American Society for Quality (ASQ), quality engineers must possess an understanding of many metrics and applied technologies, including statistical methods, human factors and management information systems. Quality engineers generally have experience in decision-making positions.

 

Salary Information

 

In December 2014, PayScale.com reported that most quality engineers who worked in the medical device sector earned between $50,198 – $97,358 annually, while most who worked in electronics made between $47,667 – $89,181 per year, including bonuses. PayScale.com also indicated that Six Sigma Blackbelt Engineers earned between $58,604 – $111,779 annually.
